ROBERT SMITH
Designer
Robert is a British-Australian multidisciplinary designer – working actively as a Graduate Architect, Set Designer and Graphic Designer – spanning the fields of architecture, interior design, set design, projection design, graphic design for digital and print media, and more. Robert’s practice focuses on the design of special experiences, concentrating on the total work of art, as well as on designs that elicit an emotional response.
Prior to working as Senior Graphic Designer at Executive Media, he completed an architectural internship at Weberwürschinger Gesellschaft von Architekten GmbH, Berlin, Germany. Robert has worked to develop an original proposal for sustainability within the performing arts for MUDfest, the largest student arts festival in Australia. While studying, he was named runner-up in the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards for Architecture and Interior Architecture. He presented an innovative paper at the Australian Institute of Architecture Student Conference in Canberra, focusing on the relationship between set design and Architecture.
Robert has worked extensively in theatre, designing more than 60 productions, including: Hitmen, and Human Error (Bakers Dozen, The Meatmarket); City of Angels (Playhouse, Arts Centre); Einstein: Master of the Universe (Theatreworks) The Fastest Clock in the Universe (Chapel off Chapel); Live Acts On Stage (fortyfivedownstairs); Old Man Nanook (Geelong Courthouse); and The Wild Party (Revolt). And until recently, serving as Resident Designer, Producer and Company Manager of Four Letter Word Theatre.

Robert makes his Lyric, and opera debut with the 2018 production of Les Mamelles de Tiresias.
