KATE BRIGHT

Mezzo Soprano

Melbourne mezzo soprano Kate Bright studied Graduate Diploma of Opera at Victorian College of the Arts, where she played the roles of Autumn and Winter in the Fairy Queen (Purcell) and Sesto in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito. After graduating in 2005, Kate has been a regular with Opera Australia chorus. she was invited to Rome to perform the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with the Rome Festival Opera.

 

Kate made her debut in the Wiesbaden Maifestspiele in 2012 as Cherubino in Mozart's La Nozze di Figaro. Kate regularly performs with Opera Australia chorus in Melbourne.

 

Roles include: Curra La Forza del Destino (SOSA); Suzuki (cover) Madame Butterfly (SOSA); Diane Iphigenie en Tauride; Prince Orlofsky Die Fledermaus; Venus (cover) Orpheus in the underworld; Dorabella - Cosi fan tutte (Co-opera); Lola -  Cavalleria Rusticana (Melbourne Opera);  Tessa -The Gondoliers (Co-opera); Tisbe - La Cenerentola (Lyric Opera of Melbourne); Jill All Alone - Merrie England (Lyric Opera of Melbourne); Alto soloist - The Messiah; Major Stone - Happy End; Cherubino - Le Nozze di Figaro (Co-opera); Olga - Eugene Onegin (Co-opera); Donna Elvira - Don Giovanni; Sesto - La Clemenza; 1st witch, 2nd woman - Dido and Aeneas;

 

Kate first performed with Lyric in the 2013 production of Iphegenie en Tauride and returns to the company in 2015 in Gianni Schicchi.
