ORIGINAL PRODUCTION

Composer:  Barry Conyngham

Librettist:  Murray Copland

Commissioned by:  Victorian State Opera

Premiered:  August 25th 1984, State Theatre, Melbourne

Join us this Thursday for a very special post-performance with members of the original 1984 production of Fly. Join Soprano Margaret Haggart, Baritone John Bolton Wood, Harpist Marshall Mcguire and Composer Barry Conyngham as they share their memories of Fly, 35 years ago. This is a free event for any ticket holders to Fly, taking place on set at fortyfivedownstairs lasting approximately 30 minutes. Don't miss this chance to experience Australia's operatic history.

After 35 years of waiting, Barry Conyngham's opera Fly, based on the life of Lawrence Hargrave, returns to the stage in the most anticipated revival since Lyric's sell-out production of Our Man in Havana.

Lyric's innovative and intimate new production will soar this August at fortyfivedownstairs, in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. With an exceptional cast and creative team, FLY will surely be the Australian music event of the year.

“FLY is Australia’s history turned into art

through music, drama and design,”

Pat Miller, Artistic Director
