CHRISTINA LOGAN BELL

Set and Costume Designer

Since graduating 10 ago, Christina has been working as a free-lance designer in Set and Costume design for theatre. She recently completed a placement in the Digital Design Department at the National Theatre, London. 

Christina has designed the set and costumes for ANNA BOLENA, MARIA STUARDA, DER FREISCHÜTZ and COSI FAN TUTTE (Melbourne Opera) Greenroom nomination for best design in opera, Werther (Lyric Opera) FLOWERCHILDREN – THE MAMMA’S AND PAPA’S STORY (Magnormos), THE STEPHEN SCHWARTZ TRIPTYCH, JERRY HERMAN TRIPTYCH and STEPHEN SONDHEIM TRIPTYCH (Magnormos) – set, costume and projection design. THE HAT PIN (Magnormos), TRUE LOVE TRAVELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD and POV DAVE (Fifteen minutes from Anywhere). RIO SAKI AND OTHER FALLING OBJECTS (Parnassus Den) MELBURNALIA II and MACBETH RE-ARISEN (White Whale Theatre -nominated for best Independent Production at the Green Room awards), WAR LOUNGE (The Bettybooke) and MEN (Straight Jacket Productions), A KIND OF ALASKA and WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF (Winerfall Theatre).


Christina’s Set Design credits include; Stonnington Council's OPERA IN THE PARK 2015, 2016, AND 2017, LIFE'S A CIRCUS ((Magnormos),) NIGHT SCHOOL (VCA), BETWEEN TODAY AND TOMORROW (VCA), LIFE’S A CIRCUS (Magnormos). Costume design credits include; WHITE WITH WIRE WHEELS (Melbourne Union Theatre) and LIVING THINGS (VCA puppetry) created by Peter Wilson, DISJOINTED STORY and LOIS AND HER MOTHER’S SECRET LIFE (Cast and Crew Productions), BOW WOW FESTIVAL (The family Dog Circus), TRIPLICITY (Weave Contemporary Dance Theatre), and AS YOU LIKE IT(Winterfall Theatre). 

Christina was recently involved with set dressing and props for the Cabaret show OPRAHFICATION (which was also featured at the New York Musical Theatre Festival) and the Melbourne Zoo concert version of the Disney musical BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Adam J. Lowe Productions). Christina is the Designer (Set and Costumes) for the national tour of CALIFORNIA DREAMING – THE MUSIC OF THE MAMAS AND PAPAS, A FINE ROMANCE:  THE MAGIC OF FRED ASTAIRE and CAROLE KING – THE SONGBOOK OF HER LIFE (JTM Productions),  THE BUGLE BOYS – A SALUTE THE ANDREWS SISTERS (Bugle Boys and JTM Productions). 

She is currently designing Melbourne Opera's 2017 productions of Wagner's LOHENGRIN at the Regent Theatre and Donizetti's ROBERTO DEVEREUX.

 

Christina first designed for lyric on the 2014 production of Werther and returns in 2017 for The Japanese Princess and The Little Prince.
